We're on our way!

We headed out of Raleigh around 4:30 PM today, a little later than expected, but all in good spirits nonetheless. The Bayer van is a great blessing and we pray that it will hold no "tire" surprises like we experienced on the Biloxi trip last year. An advantage of leaving a little later was only having to fight a bit of traffic through RTP, instead of Atlanta.

After a brief stop for Cook-Out in Salisbury (if it's fried, they have it...yum!), we headed on down to Duncan, SC (a little south of the giant Peach) and stopped for the night at the Holiday Inn Express (no pics yet - too dark). Lisa drove the whole way and the Lord provided safe and uneventful travel. The plan is to leave around 9 AM tomorrow for the remaining eight hours or so into New Orleans.

New Orleans - The team prepares

A small but enthusiastic team of folks plans to leave Friday, February 29 for New Orleans to help with some rebuilding at Edgewater Baptist Church. We don't know the exact nature of the work, but we are flexible. We do know that the need is still great so we want to go with servant hearts and willing hands. Lisa heads up the planning; Mike, Kathy and Jeff provide the support (or something like that).

Please pray for:

  • Gospel grace in each of our hearts to share with those we work with and for
  • Safety on the road
  • Willingness to listen, learn and do whatever is asked
  • Empathy with those who are hurting
  • Careful work that glorifies Jesus
